2019 Battle at Bandon | JULY 24th-27th, 2019

2019 Battle at Bandon

JULY 24-27, 2019 | BANDON DUNES

THE BATTLE

24 golfers will play three days of competitive golf in a two-man format. Each day will bring a new format, a new golf course and a new partner.

THE SETTING

Golf was born on rugged, wind-swept land just like Bandon Dunes. Every hole, every hazard, every shot is defined by nature’s infinite presence. As the elements change, so does the game. It’s all part of the tradition of links golf. Lies are tight and conditions are lean. Bounce and roll are a better measure of quality than color. Mastery of the ground game becomes a more important skill than raw power. The ingenious and inventive player is rewarded with multiple options on nearly every shot. Amongst the massive dunes and hearty pines, you’ll discover golf in its purest state. Where nature is embraced, not conquered. And where the traditions of a time-honored game yield to an experience unlike any other.

Five minutes from Truckee lies Old Greenwood, the only Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Situated on 600 acres of forest and meadowland surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the course is among uncommonly beautiful surroundings. More than most courses, Old Greenwood is influenced by the land upon which it sits. The course’s closeness to nature is evident in many places, especially where the rolling land, thick forests and water features collide. While the combination is breathtaking, it also presents
a challenge.

The outward or “Meadow” nine ambles through firs, spruce, and Ponderosas at the base of a ridge, while the inward
“Mountain” nine showcases elevation changes of up to 400 feet, with magnificent 360° views of the Martis Valley, Lookout Mountain, and the Carson Range. The par 71 course plays to over 7,000 yards and is considered by many as the finest golf course in the Tahoe and Truckee area.

  • 11:00am – First Tee Time (Singles)
  • 4:30pm – Championship Lunch at BIGHORN

Martis Camp Club stretches across a scenic landscape of wooded valleys that offer stunning mountain views. Designed by Tom Fazio, the golf course utilizes the rugged natural beauty of the terrain to provide a formidable test for all skill levels. There are tree-lined fairways, sand bunkers and water hazards coming into play throughout. Every hole offers a unique, but equally stunning mountain view. The final hole, a par-4, is the signature hole. It is a dramatic hole that rivals some of the most scenic in Northern California, the fairway plays downhill and then rises to a green that sits just under a rock promontory.
