Five minutes from Truckee lies Old Greenwood, the only Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Situated on 600 acres of forest and meadowland surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the course is among uncommonly beautiful surroundings.
More than most courses, Old Greenwood is influenced by the land upon which it sits. The course’s closeness to nature is evident in many places, especially where the rolling land, thick forests and water features collide. While the combination is breathtaking, it also presents a challenge. Though difficult, the course is eminently playable, like most Nicklaus designs.
While Old Greenwood feels secluded and miles from anywhere, it is less than a 30-minute drive from North Lake Tahoe. Like Truckee, Tahoe City includes many alternatives for dining, shopping and of course, playing.

Schaffer’s Mill Golf & Lake Club debuted in 2008 to immediate acclaim, being named the #1 New Private Club in California and among the Top 10 New Clubs in the Country by Golfweek magazine. The outward or “Meadow” nine ambles through firs, spruce, and Ponderosas at the base of a ridge, while the inward “Mountain” nine showcases elevation changes of up to 400 feet, with magnificent 360° views of the Martis Valley, Lookout Mountain, and the Carson Range. The par 71 course plays to over 7,000 yards and is considered by many as the finest golf course in the Tahoe and Truckee area.
Monday, September 13th – Gray’s Crossing Golf Course
- 7:00am – Breakfast
- 9:30am – Shotgun Start (Singles)
- 1:30pm – Championship Lunch

At Gray’s Crossing, golfers will experience “a return to tradition”. Fast greens and tournament-like conditions await golfers every day. Demanding a combination of creative club choices and tactical strategies, the traditional Jacobsen design reveals his passion for fun, yet challenging play. Towering Lodgepole and Jeffrey Pines line the fairways as the course weaves through a natural mountain surrounding with Mt. Rose as its backdrop. When calculating each shot, the environment plays as much a role as the course.
